You are absolutely right. Ladies who do their own bike work rock. My wife is at the stage where she can do most but not a complete bike build - working on it though. Good on you!!!! And a nice ride as well - I have had several devinci's over the years and they are a very nice bike.
Tubeless - best way to go. I have been riding tubeless for 6 years. Downhill bike right through to my xc bikes. Ride quality is better. Save on rotational weight. Flats seal instantly. The only drawback is when you tear a sidewall and you need to put a tube in - very messy. Otherwise, in my opinion, it's the only way to ride. 
Rocky Mountain - Nice bikes. I rode an ETSX for 4 years. Fantastic ride. I was a little upset they don't make that model anymore. Just replaced it with a Rocky Altitude Carbon and love it just as much. Happy Trails.
